Instagram rolling out this new update for users this week, Recently they announced the test that would hide like counts shown as publically from all instagram posts.

Why Instagram Hide Public Like Counts?

In the coming weeks you may see your instagram feed looking different.

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, announced that hidden likes on Instagram will begin testing for several countries including US.

According to Mosseeri at WIRED25 Conference, Now it’s time to expand their testing to the United States.

He also clear that while testing not everyone will be affected initially, some US based users are going to be a part of the current international test group, and we will increase user base as time goes on.

How this Instagram’s New Update ‘Hidden Likes’ Works?

Instagram will not be hiding likes altogether, instead they will just hide count of likes, but account owner or user will still can see count of likes on a post with a tap.

Mark Zuckerberg explained at F8 – “As you scroll through your feed, there are no like counts, You can see who liked a photo or video, you can tap through to see [the list], and if you have the time you can add them all up yourself.”

Answer is yes, you still can see Like counts on your posts, even if your followers can’t.

But you can’t see directly under your post, instead you will have to tap on text “other” as seen in the image under your post.
